Learning Target: Compass Review - Operations with Integers

You have 20 minutes to finish the Exam. As soon as you finish, begin on the work below. We will change seats as soon at 7:50am.

Warm Up: (5(6+2-3)^2)/2 without a calculator

Goals:
• New seats.
• We will not be using a calculator for several days. You will need to do all addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division either in your head or on paper.
• Pick up the worksheets on Adding and Subtracting Integers. Complete the both sides. Check the answers with me before moving on to the next bullet.
• Get a red Algebra 1 book from the shelf. There is enough for one per table, so you must work together.
• In the Algebra 1 book, read and review the examples on p. 11-13. Copy the examples and any bold text into your notebook for future reference and studying.
• In the Algebra 1 book, complete the following problems p. 13-15 #1-43, 47, 51-63. No work. No credit. I will be taking a grade on your achievement at the end of the period.
• Monday we will not return to this subject, and you will not have time to complete the problems you did not finish today in class. If you would like to finish the problems, please spend time with me after school or during Lunch/Pulse. Unfortunately, we do not have enough books for them to be checked out and taken home.

Reminder: Unit exam tomorrow. You will get the whole time, but no extra time. Be able to answer problems for each learning target from both lesson packets. There are no retakes. It is three pages front and back with about 20 questions.

Learning Target: Determine if a value is an outlier

This is the post for Friday, September 3, 2010.

Warm Up: p. 138 #20 – you get 15 minutes to finish this problem. I want a volunteer from the class to explain your answer. After the volunteer has attempted the answer, Mr. V will write the correct answer from my sub plans on the board. If your answer doesn’t match mine, write mine down in your notes.

Goals:
• Sit in your assigned seat while Mr. V takes roll, stand for the Pledge, and listen to Morjan about lunch.

• Check L2I3 Calendar work in group against my answer key which Mr. V will pass out. You get 15-20 minutes to check your work in your group. Please seek explanations from other groups if your answers do not match mine. Mr. V will recollect these keys before the MIQ.

• L2I3 MIQ - Put up the dividers for the MIQ. You may use your notes and calculator, but no book. When all books are put away and all dividers are in place Mr. V will hand out the MIQ.

• If you talk at all before all the MIQs are collected, Mr. V will write down your name and you get a zero. There will be no discussion about this.

• When you finish, turn their MIQ into the green bin. They know where it is. I will grade them on Monday.

• If you finish the MIQ early, you have two choices. Choice 1: Your group could fill out your calendars for Investigation 4 and begin work. I will check their answers on Monday. Choice 2: Work on the following review problems as a group: p. 129 #2, p. 132 #7, p. 133 #8, p. 131 #5, and p. 135 #11 (not d).
